Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze patient medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify and correct documentation deficiencies.
- Collaborate with clinicians to clarify documentation and ensure appropriate coding.
- Implement strategies to improve documentation practices.
- Maintain accurate records and track progress.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with regulatory changes and best practices in clinical documentation.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in clinical documentation improvement or a related field.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, ICD, CPT).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Certified Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CCDIS) certification.
- Experience with specific EHR systems.
- Knowledge of various clinical specialties.
