Banner Health MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a certified Medical Dosimetrist for a full time position to cover our regional dosimetry service in Northern Colorado. The three clinics in the region are North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, McKee Medical Center in Loveland and Sterling Regional Med Center in Sterling. Banner Health is a full partner in the MD Anderson Cancer Network, which provides our dosimetrists with the opportunity to participate in weekly chart rounds with the team in Houston to review plans in a collaborative arena. MD Anderson has been ranked as the No. 1 hospital for cancer care in the nation in 2018-2021 by U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Hospitals” survey. The qualified dosimetrist will join a dynamic team of two other dosimetrists and three physicists. Under the supervision of the Program Director of Medical Physics, the dosimetrist will be engaged in treatment planning at busy facilities which offer special procedures such as SRS, SBRT and HDR. Our Radiation Oncology departments are equipped with a Varian Truebeams with advanced components such as Vision RT and Exactrac. Our CT simulators at NCMC and McKee have 4D capability. Treatment planning is done on Raystation version 10A and the OIS is Mosiaq v2.81. The work setting is a blend of remote and onsite at McKee and NCMC. Our Radiation Oncology programs are accredited by ASTRO’s Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx) and the Cancer Program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a “Community Comprehensive Cancer Program.” The Cancer Program is a comprehensive program embracing a broad spectrum of care and services, from prevention and early detection programs through an active cancer survivorship program. POSITION SUMMARY This position, under supervision, prepares radiation therapy treatment plans as directed by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. Performs needed assessment, care and treatment planning for patient population.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Performs computer and manual treatment planning as prescribed by the physician for patients requiring radiation therapy treatments. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
  2. Calculates all initial treatment doses and reviews calculations of treatment and doses performed by the therapist. Monitors patient's dosimetric calculations and ensures the safe administration of therapeutic radiation treatments.
  3. Works collaboratively with staff and physicians to develop treatment plans, discuss diagnosis and desired treatment results. May act as a dosimetry resource for staff. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
  4. Responsible for the review of diagnostic information to produce the development of an optimized treatment plan. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
  5. Participates as required in all aspects of radiation therapy planning and treatments Performs and/or assists in radiographic simulations. Responsible for the fabrication of shielding blocks.
  6. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to radiation safety policies. Ensures the safe receipt, administration, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials utilizing ALARA principles.
  7. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
  8. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department by performing other duties as assigned.
  9. Under supervision performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility, procedures and protocols to patients. Internal customers: All levels of radiation oncology and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited radiation therapy program or graduate from an accredited Medical Dosimetry program. Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and licensure by the state of practice if applicable and Medical Dosimetry Certificate within 18 months of hire. BLS Certification. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
