Job Description

Position Overview

As the Head of Product/Operations Manager at company, you will be the central owner of our physical product strategy and execution, playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering products that resonate with our customer base. You'll be the first dedicated product leader in a fast-growing company-launched in March 2023 and on pace to surpass $12M in annual revenue. We are a lean team of 8 full-time employees and are building the next great interior accessory consumer product brand in the automotive space.

In this role, your core responsibility will be to lead the development of high-coverage, efficiently manufactured seat covers that strike the perfect balance between quality, design, and SKU simplicity. In particular, your near-term focus will be developing a universal back seat solution that maintains full fitment across a wide range of vehicles without compromising our operational model. You'll own both the strategy and execution , collaborating closely with our contract factory in India, the Internet Brand Manager, COO, and CMO.

As our company scales and the operational landscape evolves, so will your role. Over the first 12-18 months, you will gradually take on ownership of our warehouse operations -not in a day-to-day fulfillment sense, but as the leader responsible for ensuring systems, tools, and people are in place to support:

  • Fulfillment of daily orders

  • Returns and replacements

  • Q/A standards and receiving processes

You'll be supported by a hands-on Warehouse Manager and will be tasked with building the long-term infrastructure to ensure our logistics and fulfillment operations are scalable, efficient, and brand-aligned.

You will also take ownership of factory ordering and PO management , another critical area in our growth story. This will involve:

  • Placing and tracking POs with our contract factories

  • Managing lead times, inventory levels, and supplier performance

  • Driving operational efficiency in supply chain flow

We view this facet of the business as one of the greatest levers for improving margin and cash flow, and it will be a significant part of your role as you grow into full leadership of our physical product lifecycle-from concept to delivery.

Ultimately, the point at which this role transitions to COO is when all of these key functions are being executed quickly and effectively, the candidate is clearly a strong and respected leader to subordinates, and-most importantly-the SCS core values radiate from the individual naturally. At that point, the CEO and CMO will hold a high level of trust in this leader, who will operate with autonomy and broad decision-making authority in service of the company's long-term vision.

This is a high-ownership , strategic , and executional role for someone who thrives in building structure where none exists and is energized by taking a consumer product brand from $12M to $100M.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Strategy (Initial Priority)

  • Lead end-to-end development of new product lines, with an immediate focus on creating a universal back seat cover that balances full coverage with SKU efficiency.

  • Maintain deep understanding of customer feedback and buying behavior-translate insights into product innovation that elevates brand value and marketing efficiency.

  • Collaborate closely with our contract factory in India to develop and refine materials, fitment templates, and scalable product configurations.

  • Partner with the Internet Brand Manager and CMO to ensure new products align with brand and campaign goals across B2C and B2B markets.

  • Identify opportunities to extend the product line with accessories or complementary items that enhance the customer experience and AOV.

Warehouse Operations & Fulfillment (Phased Responsibility Over 12-18 Months)

  • Oversee the strategic direction and performance of the warehouse with support from a hands-on Warehouse Manager.

  • Ensure fulfillment systems, workflows, and team roles are in place to efficiently manage:

  • Pick, pack, and ship processes

  • Returns and replacements

  • Quality control and receiving

  • Guide continuous improvement of warehouse processes-focusing on error reduction, cycle time, and long-term scalability as new sales channels (B2B, Amazon, etc.) are added.

  • Support hiring, SOP creation, and training for new warehouse roles as needed to meet operational demand.

Purchasing, Inventory, and Supply Chain Management (Phased Responsibility Over 12-18 Months)

  • Manage the ordering process from our contract factories , placing POs based on demand planning, lead times, and cash flow considerations.

  • Track purchase orders through production and transit, collaborating with the COO and warehouse staff as needed.

  • Proactively analyze inventory trends and develop solutions to improve working capital efficiency (i.e., avoid both overstock and stock outs).

  • Build long-term systems and tools for supply chain visibility, efficiency, and adaptability as the business scales.

Cross-Functional Ownership & Execution

  • Own operational efficiency across the full physical product lifecycle-from concept to factory to customer doorstep.

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure that customer experience, marketing strategy, fulfillment logistics, and margin goals are aligned with product decisions.

  • Lead or co-lead the scoping and implementation of operational tools, tech platforms, and systems related to product development, warehouse ops, or purchasing.

Expectations

  • Execution Speed & Precision: The Head of Product/Operations Manager must be able to move quickly and effectively, balancing urgency with quality. Progress matters - systems, decisions, and improvements must be actioned at a fast pace to keep up with our growth.

  • Customer-First Thinking : Product decisions must reflect a deep understanding of customer behavior, use cases, and pain points. Success is measured by the impact on customer satisfaction, ease of installation, return rates, and NPS.

  • P&L Impact : Product performance will be measured by its influence on gross margin, inventory efficiency, and marketing performance. Over time, this person will be accountable for P&L components across product, warehouse, and supply chain functions.

  • Long-Term Strategic Lens : Build systems, processes, and products that will scale from $12M to $100M+. This includes a long view on SKU optimization, operational automation, team structure, and warehouse capabilities.

  • Ownership Mentality : You're expected to "own it"-identify what's broken, what's missing, or what could be improved, and lead initiatives (even cross-functionally) to build solutions.

  • Execution + Communication : Translate strategy into action. Define project timelines, make decisions when needed, and communicate clearly with teammates, factory partners, and leadership to keep projects on track.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership : Lead through influence and collaboration. Partner effectively with the Internet Brand Manager, CMO, COO, and warehouse team. Respect the boundaries of others' roles but ensure alignment on vision and execution.

  • Scalable Team Systems : As responsibilities expand (especially warehouse and purchasing), build clear SOPs, train future hires, and create documentation that allows others to succeed even in your absence.

· Gross Margin Impact - Bonuses tied to improvement in product-level margins or overall inventory efficiency.

· On-Time Product Launches - Rewards for executing key product rollouts within timeline and budget.

· Inventory Optimization - Bonus potential tied to in-stock rates, SKU performance, and reduced aging inventory.

· Warehouse & Fulfillment Metrics - Accuracy, speed, and order completion rates over time.

· Vendor Management Excellence - PO accuracy, lead time efficiency, and cost savings from supply chain improvements.

Bonuses will be evaluated and paid quarterly based on performance against agreed-upon targets.

Health Insurance:
50% employer coverage. Will be implemented when team demand arises - currently not active due to team demographics (most under 25 and not required).

Work Hours:
40+ hours per week, with flexibility in schedule as long as responsibilities are met.

Paid Holidays:
